BERTI Macchine Agricole - Monografia aziendale

Today Berti is a limited liability company run by Mario and his two children Filippo and Alessandra, together with a number of colleagues. Way back in 1920 it was a small agricultural machine business based in the town of Tavernelle, near Vicenza. In 1959 is expanded and moved to Caldiero, near Verona, where the company is currently based. Times and places have changed, but the name and way of conducting the business are still those of the family that proudly founded it. Venusto Berti, Mario’s grandfather, was a third-party manufacturer, he processed materials owned by other with his own means. The vocation for agriculture and the experience gained - quite literally “on the field” - have led to projects that his son Pierino Livio will improve from a technical point of view. The first mass-produced piece of equipment manufactured by Venusto was a plough, also known as el versor in the local dialect, first operated by animal traction and later by mechanical traction. Subsequently production extended to the construction of a winepress, el torcio. Terms from the local dialects - first the dialect of Vicenza and later the dialect of Verona - used affectionately by members of the Berti family with local clients to refer to agricultural machinery are enough to indicate the positive relationship the family has with the local area and, above all, the passion and commitment that even today allow us to continue to design and manufacture machines that are able to meet a range of requirements in terms of maintenance and land reclamation. In 1961 we produced the first Berti dusting machine to apply sulphur in vineyards, the solfarina, technically known as “Eolo”. Subsequently we added an appendage to transform the machine, so that it could double up as compost spreader and be used in both summer and winter. Livio obtained a patent for this innovation. Clearly, awareness is a fundamental step to grow...! The company’s history grows as the family grows, as Pierino will soon be joined by his two sons, Mario e Giorgio. Together they will manufacture, in 1965, 8
